The intermediate-sulfidation epithermal Strauss deposit is part of the Drake Goldfield north-eastern NSW, Australia. mineralization gold dominant with minor silver and significant zinc, copper lead. has a combined total resource 2.66 Mt @ 1.5 g/T Au 1.9 Ag. Petrographic analysis shown to be hosted by varying layers dacitic ash flow tuffs cross-cutting lamprophyre dyke though previous authors classified some as intrusive andesites. Mineralization mainly occurs in form vein stockworks three main orientations. Structural indicates that these resulted from two fault system events one conjugate system. SEM shows there are different styles, pyrite chalcopyrite assemblage, events. Correlation for assay data strong relationship Ag moderate correlation Pb. XRD widespread argillic-phyllic propylitic alteration. Silver tellurides have been found late-stage grains associated assemblage. Sr depletion due intense pervasive alteration at Strauss. carbon oxygen isotopes carbonates suggests was derived magmatic source input low temperature meteoric water, while sulfur indicate source.
